It was an engaging pursuit for me to delve into so many aspects of Indian culture and to find that the poet had madevery considerable contributions in all of them during his long life. It became , indeed, something of a discovery, too, that unlike many others of the same poetic calibre and literaryskill, he had shown unusual penetration into the essentials of human dignity and creative individuality.
